District Equity Team Resources

In light of recent events, the District Equity Committee met to discuss how local, national and international events have impacted our district. On behalf of the District Equity Committee, the district is issuing the following statement:

We as a school community are fiercely committed to free speech but certainly not at the expense of isolating individuals or groups of individuals. To function effectively as a community of learners who develop solutions rather than simply foster division, it is imperative that we think about the impact of what we say to one another.

No matter one’s political beliefs, everyone in our school community needs to think carefully about their words and the impact they will have on our students, families, and staff. The successful operation of Carmel Central School District requires that we keep our focus on the students.

Our sincere hope for our district is that in light of these events, we offer an added measure of kindness to one another, and that we continue to look for ways to work together to do what we do best as a district, which is to respect, listen and learn from one another, and seek thoughtful solutions within our district. In order to help foster positive conversations at home and in school, we have compiled several links and resources for your review.
